This session will explore the history of four Baptist missionaries in Indian Territory around the era of Dawes Allotment (1877 - 1934). Through their stories, traditional narratives surrounding Christianity and Indigenous history are both challenged and reinforced. Historical nuance and a greater depth of understanding will be gained from this presentation.

High School Teacher, South Christian High School
John Hendrikse has been a high school educator for the past 14 years.  Prior to teaching, John spent time in the military, including a deployment to Iraq in 2010.  He currently teaches US History and AP World History at South Christian High School.
